Oostvallei's homes meet all expectations of our younger customers.

This home in Oostvallei Retirement Village was redesigned and renovated entirely from a pre-existing structure and converted into a new design that would meet the expectations of our younger clients to provide a safe, secure, and discrete environment while meeting the mission requirements of Oostvallei.

Implementing a new design that would meet our resident’s expectations was not without obstacles. Oostvallei delivered a contemporary structure that provides a modern atmosphere avoiding the traditional traps of simply being another housing development with rows of homes with the same design.

The exterior of the home carries a contemporary theme of glass and plastered concrete with common structural accents integrated into the porte-cochère, covered patios and walkways. The entrance to the home features an area that yields a view of a very large indigenous white stinkwood tree that extends through the concrete slab and casts its shade across the indoor garden and surrounding area. This single, defining feature of this home merges into the structure’s architectural design and therefore adopted the appropriate name “The Tree House”. The tree appears to grow through the building where the concrete overhang serves as a shelter for the outdoor walkway. The overall effect provides a presence that is simultaneously powerful and welcoming.

The airside of the home comprises a large covered patio with skylights allowing for ample sunlight and has beautiful views of the Moreleta Nature Reserve.

Oostvallei celebrating it's 27th year of excistence.

Being registered on the 27th of November 1987 (27 years ago) as one of South Africa's first Retirement Village, Oostvallei is proud to be celebrating it's 25th year of excistence since construction started.

Oostvallei has therefore embarked on a few major projects to enhance the Village in general and be on the foreground of a major new trend happening in South Africa regarding retirement living and leading as a Sustainable New Age Retirement Lifestyle Estate.

Oostvallei - again setting the benchmark for renewable energy.

Due to the drastic price hikes in the past and also the following years, Oostvallei Retirement Village in Pretoria has decided to switch to a more reliable, renewable energy source. The electrical energy generation at Oostvallei is based on the installation of 31 solar photovoltaic(PV) installations, sufficient to meet the needs of the 120 homes in the estate. With all the homes having north facing concrete roofs, it created an ideal surface for the installation of the individual solar farms.

Each of these solar farms produce just over 32kW/h of electrical energy per day which accumulates to just under 1 megawatt per day for all 31 solar generators. The total generation of clean electricity per month is close to 31 megawatt. Based on ESKOM data the reduction of coal burnt annually will be in the region of 360 tones with a CO2 emmissions reduction of 576 tones per annum.

The installation was done by Galeo Solar (Pty) Ltd. and is South Africa's only and also largest multi residential solar photovoltaic installation to date. The installation comprises just over 1000 solar panels being manufactured by Suntech Power and uses Kaco-new energy for the inverters and monitoring software.
